sadaqa e jariya for the people who have passed away ?
Question:
I would just like to how do we perform sadaqa e jariya for the people who have
passed away?
Answer:
Performing Sadqa e Jaariya is highly encouraged in Islam. There are many ways of performing Sadqa e Jaariya, some of which are:
1) Spending in the way of the mosque (helping cover cost of building, maintenance, carpeting, buying Qur’an or Islamic books for the mosque library).
2) Helping Darul Ulooms or Islamic institutions where students gain Islamic knowledge.
3) Helping the poor and needy (building a well, providing shelter, building a house, setting up a small business for their livelihood).
4) Buying Islamic books for Madrassa, Darul Ulooms, Ulemas (scholars) and Muslim students.
It is also important to know that if the deceased has left behind a good, pious child and that child prays and/or performs good deeds, then the (deceased) parents also receive that reward as has been mentioned in the Ahadith of Rasoolullah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam.
