Signs of forgiveness?

Question:

I am an ordinary person. I don’t even remember how many sins I have done...but for the past few weeks I can’t sleep at nights and I have regrets upon all my actions .I am saying my prayers and asking for forgiveness since then ...will I be forgiven ?

Answer:

The feeling that you have described is a sign of true regret and remorse for your sins and a desire to improve as a person by repenting. This is exactly what Allah Almighty loves. In a famous Hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that if a community existed that never committed any sin, Allah would destroy it and replace it with a community that did sin. This is so He can forgive them after they seek forgiveness. In short, Allah loves those who repent, so the feeling you have is in fact a good sign.
