The Umm al-Qura calendar system of Saudi Arabia will result in the announcement of start of Zul Hajj as Sunday 6th October 2013 based on the certainty that someone in South America will see the moon many hours after sunset in Saudi Arabia.
On the basis of all the scientific information available, the moon will not be visible on Saturday evening (5th) in Asia, the Middle East, Europe or Africa. If the moon is not seen then the first day of Zul Hajj 1434 will be Monday 7th October 2013.
If the moon is seen on 6th October 2013 then Eid-ul-Adha will be on Wednesday 16th October 2013.
The Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia will establish Eid-ul-Adha as Tuesday 15th October 2013 for the followers of this pre-calculated system.
Post start of Zul-Hajj Update:
As expected, the Umm al-Qura calendar system of Saudi Arabia resulted in the first of Zul-Hajj being announced for Sunday 5th October (Making Eid-ul-Adha Tuesday 15th). Apart from Chile in South America, no confirmed moon sighting report was received on Saturday 5th.
First of Zul-Hajj was marked as Monday 7th October 2013, making Eid-ul-Adha Wednesday 16th October 2013.
