Shampoos containing Alcohol ?
Something that has been brought to attention is that most branded Shampoos and
creams are containing Alcohol Denat, or some sort of Alcohol, for example Johnsons
Baby lotion contains this, (this is used on babies) I know Alcohol is haraam reason
being you are intoxicated by this, ur not in your senses, but when we are using
shampos and creams that contain some sort of Alcohol, we are not really intoxicated
.. some confusion here please could you enlighten us with this.
More research is required into the type of alcohol used in such products. Some argue that alcohol is forbidden in all of its forms, regardless of whether it is in a drink, in a perfume or toiletry. Others say that the alcohol found in shampoos is nothing like the alcohol found in drinks; it is not consumable and does not intoxicate, which is why alcohol is forbidden in the first place.
The best option is try to avoid them if possible. Nowadays, there is a vast array of non-alcoholic toiletries available from Islamic shops. Most modern scholars do agree however that alcohol in shampoo does not come under the prohibition of alcohol, simply because this cannot intoxicate a person
