Ramadhan is the best month of the Islamic calendar. A fard carried out during this holy month bears the reward of 70 fard acts and a nafl being observed during this month has the reward of a fard. For this reason many people choose to calculate and pay their Zakaat during Ramadhan.
The Islamic Centre website has a presentation by Moulana Shahid Raza on the subject of Zakaat which will assist you in calculating the correct amount.
The Islamic Centre 'Ask an Alim' section of Zakaat and Charity answers many of questions on how zakaat is calculated and how it should be distributed.
Our fasts remain unaccepted unless we pay the sadqah of Firtah. It is sunnat to pay it before Eid Prayer but if we pay it during Ramadhan then we get more sawaab. Fitrah is collected at both the Islamic Centre and Leicester Central Mosque and is set this year at £3.00 per head.
The Nisab level, wealth at which you must pay zakaat, is calculated this Ramadhan as £2850.00
If you are unable to fast for medical reasons then the fidya you will need to pay as compensation for 30 missed fasts is £90.00
The Islamic centre collects and distributes zakaat to organisations, religious schools and orphanages across the world each year as well supporting Muslims during disasters.
The Islamic centre does not take any commission or administration costs from your zakaat money and 100 percent goes to the needy.
Your zakaat money can be given at the Leicester Central Mosque (Conduit St) or you can use our on-line pay-pal service. The on-line service allows you to give Lillah to the mosque as well as submit Zakaat, Sadaqa and Fitra Donations. Donate on-line at www.islamiccentre.org
