New moon will be born at 19:58 (GMT) on Saturday 30th August 2008.

 

At Sunset on the 30th August 2008 (For Leicester): 

 

Sunset Time : 19:59 (BST) - Summer Time

Age of Moon : -1 Hours 1 Minutes

Moonset Time : 19:37 BST (Before Sunset)

Conclusion : Not Visible on Saturday 30th August

Muslims and Astronomers from across the world search for the new moon at the start of each Islamic month. Their finding are posted on the Internet on sites such as www.moonsighting.com.

 

The information gathered for Ramadhan can be seen by clicking here.

On the basis of all the scientific information available, the Moon will not be visible on Saturday evening (30th). The following night (31st) the Moon will be visible in some parts of the southern hemisphere (South Africa and South America) Inshallah. The first day of Ramadhan will be on Monday 1st September if we recieve a positive moon sighting report.

Eid-ul-Fitr

New Moon will be born at 08:12 (GMT) on Monday 29th September 2008.

At Sunset on the 29th September 2008 (For Leicester): 

 

Sunset Time : 18:35 (BST) - Summer Time

Age of Moon : 9 Hour 34 Minutes

Moonset Time : 18:19 - BST ( 25 Minutes before Sunset)

Conclusion : Not Visible in the UK
